User’s guide

Do you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, trigger finger, or some other form of RSI? Or do you have a condition, which makes small repetitive finger movements painful? Change the way you click … with the ERGOCLICK!

This unit uses the USB interface and is completely compatible with any other mouse, trackball, touchpad or alternative cursor control device. Simply plug it in and eliminate painful repetitive finger micro movements once and for all!

Oh, the constant clicking……

During your career you may make 20'000'000 or more click operations using your fingers. However, the human body was not ‘designed’ for this and is not capable of perpetual (or even excessively repetitive) motion without injury. And once you have become injured, the road to recovery can be long and may even involve surgery.

Now, with ERGOCLICK we can give your fingers a break!

ERGOCLICK: save your index finger
by eliminating 1'000'000 mouse clicks annually!

INTRODUCTION

ERGOCLICK is Plug-and-Play accessory to any pointing device you use – mouse, trackball, touchpad, joystick, etc.

It provides complete protection from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome developing due to mouse clicks, because when using the ERGOCLICK you no longer need to click with your fingers – ever!

Simply plug in ERGOCLICK to an available USB port on your computer (no need to switch off your computer for this), and place it on the left side such that your left palm will comfortably rest on the device. When you press with your left palm on the ERGOCLICK, it will generate left click and double clicks on your computer.

(1) Your right hand will move the cursor by moving your mouse. (Your right hand is fully relaxed, fingers are not used).

(2) To create clicks, gently press the left palm on the surface of the ERGOCLICK. (Your left hand is fully relaxed, fingers are not used).

Note: all functions of your right-hand input device will be preserved and unaffected by the addition of the ERGOCLICK. You can continue to click with this device, if you want.

In order to enable double-click functionality with the ERGOCLICK, you will need to install driver (see on CD-ROM)

DRIVER INSTALLATION

- see pictures in PDF file (below).

Step 1:
Install Driver, running the program 0_DRIVER-SETUP_0 from the Driver_instalation Folder on your product CD-ROM.
In the window, that will appear, type the directory name, where you want the driver will be placed (for example, ERGOCLICK) and click “Next”.
Step 2:
Type name of program folder, (my ERGOCLICK for example), and click “Next”
Step 3:
Restart your computer.

A driver icon (small white mouse) will appear on the task bar to indicate successful installation.

The Double-click function (i.e. double left click) will be assigned as the default function. But you can assign another one from more than 50 functions.

To assign another function -
Click twice (Double-click) on the small white mouse icon on the bar.
The window will appear. In “Buttons” menu, you could choose in Assign Menu any other 50+ functions, but double click is strongly recommended for most regular computer users). Click “Apply”.

(To uninstall driver, if you will want to do it later, click on “Uninstall Mouse Driver 3.5”. Driver directory, Program folder and driver icon on the bar will be safety removed)

HOW THE ERGOCLICK WORKS
This large palm-activated button switch generates left click and double clicks. We recommend using slight shifting of your left palm for this (although there are other ways of using the ERGOCLICK – see below).

To activate left click, press down with your palm from the front of the unit (next to the (1) on the graphic).

Τo activate double-click, click two times on the side (1) by palm

or (be sure that you have already installed the driver (see above))

click only once on the top edge of the unit with the top of your palm close to where your fingers meet the palm (side (2) on the graphic) (recommended) or

with finger of the left hand (thumb, index or middle) – press only once smaller toggle (3)

POSITION OF THE PALM ON THE DEVICE

You can choose whatever is most comfortable for you:

ADJUSTING BUTTON FORCE
The ERGOCLICK has a unique feature, which is not available in any other keyboard or mouse currently on the market – an adjustable force setting.

For the first time ever, you can adjust the actuation force of the unit required to generate clicks from 10 grams to 300 grams, creating as light or as strong a touch as desired - SOMETHING THAT NO OTHER MOUSE IS CAPABLE OF DOING!

If you spin the wheel in direction (A), the click force will become more gentle (down to 10 grams), spinning the wheel in direction (B), the click force increases (up to a maximum of 300 grams).

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Will my old mouse continue to work?

A: Yes. All buttons are in active, as it was before ERGOCLICK installation. You can alternate working with two hands with working with one as you have previously.

Q: Does the ERGOCLICK help people with limited range of motion?

A: Yes, therapists of Washington State Department of Labor & Industries confirmed it.

Q: What results I can expect from using the ERGOCLICK?

A: You will need some time (about 1 hour) to teach yourself to use two devices, because before you used only one.

Before you used only one hand. Now, both hands are involved! Please keep in mind that people vary in the time it takes to get used to a new method of working.

After short time you will see, that your work in the interface with your computer become 2-5 times faster, balanced, and much more easy and without any pain in hands!

With ERGOCLICK you work with your computer,
as pianist plays piano

We work with injured workers in modifying their worksites to enable them to return to work or remain working. We think this product would work well for CAD drawers, an architect we are working with now, and even a quadriplegic taking a computer course that we are working with. They all really liked the ERGOCLICK.

We hope you enjoy using your ERGOCLICK and tell all your friends about it!
